Is a Broan Central Vacuum the Best?

Posted on | August 10, 2011 | No Comments

When you buy an appliance for your home you want to buy the best. But sometimes price and brand names can taint the perception of otherwise good products. A Broan central vacuum system, for example, may be just as good or considerably worse than a model made by a lesser-known manufacturer. That’s why doing as much research as possible before settling on a house-wide vacuum system is beneficial for getting the best product for the fairest price. Brochures and web sites can boast impressive sounding statistics about suction power and receptacle size, but those numbers are meaningless unless you understand how they directly apply to your home and needs. A bigger floor plan will almost invariably require a power unit with a high number of maximum air watts, which refers to the air return to the central source of power.

Fan and motor speed are other factors that can easily be missed if you don’t know to look for them. The entire vacuum system derives its force from the power unit you’ll be purchasing, Broan or otherwise. You can purchase the tubing that runs throughout your house separately, though buying all your parts from a single manufacturer may be better for getting an inclusive warranty and customer service contract. Installation of all the components can be an overwhelming job for even the most savvy of do-it-yourselfers, so it would be wise to factor in the cost of a contractor when you purchase a system. Even with that cost, however, the entire house-wide vacuum appliance can still cost less than a high-end, traditional portable model.
